On the southern slopes of Craig-Y-Fan Ddu are marked Stones on my 1:25000 OS map. The Coflein description states them to be of unknown origin, but to me they reminded me very much of the Exmoor stone settings.

We had just parked in the Blaen-y-Glyn carpark and started to walk up the long steep slog to the top of Craig-Y-Fan Ddu at the start of a long days walk around pretty much the whole of the top of the Brecon Beacons ridge when I spotted these stones marked. As they were only a few hundred yards off to the east of the footpath, I had to go and have a look.

What we found were many stones standing proud of the steep southeastern facing hillside, with the majority of them seemingly arranged in three rows running around the hillside, but with a few other more solitary stones standing about in the vicinity, notably a few lower down the hillside towards a fairly notable spring.

From memory, as I had nothing with me to make notes, the upper row had about 5 or 6 stones still standing, mainly about 2 feet tall, with another couple fallen, all fairly evenly spaced at just under 10 yards from each other. The second row, probably about 10 yards downhill from the first, had 4 or 5 stones standing with a couple fallen but still in place. The third row had I think only about three stumps of stones, all smaller than the upper two rows.

This is a really beautiful place with super views to the east over the Brecon hills.

Update September 2019: This stone row is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain website - see their entry for Craig Y Fan Ddu, which includes a description, photographs of the alignment and the individual stones, a plan of the row (from a recent survey carried out in September 2018), plus access arrangements.

The SRoGB also gives links to Coflein NPRN 305678 (Craig-y-Fan Ddu, Stone Rows), and the CADW 2011 Excavation Report.

Note: Description and pictures of this remote and little known stone setting now here for all to enjoy.
