Referendum for "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" Protection for Agbridge Elmet
Referendum for "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" Protection for Agbridge Elmet
Why this petition matters
We are petitioning for 15,633 signatures to match 5% of our electorate, to trigger local referendum. Anyone in the UK can sign. See video on local referendums https://youtu.be/Ic8EUEug_aA
The Local Council and partners have been trying to put a café on our Ancient Hillfort for many years. And there have been serious Planning Breach by the Applicants Thandi Brothers, as well as Contravention of Greenbelt regulations raised within the Council. This has to stop.
We also have discovered there are THREE major sites in the locale vale that constitute the ancient Brigantes realm of this shire. And alarmingly one has already been built directly on top of! The Warriors Tomb stands at a Whopping 40 meters. This is significant when Old Oswestry hillfort is 23 meters high. Also Dun Elm (Helme, Meltham) is a 45 meter natural long barrow. This formation of sites with its river and Pennine range, view and location is without doubt a MAJOR Brigantes site and has to have been a major centre for the Druids and their prehistory, establishment and earlier origins in the ancient world.
The Café and any further development on the site cannot be permitted to continue. And we are seriously looking at recovery and restoration of The Warriors Tomb, with connectivity and visual access restored from surrounding areas. To re establish the magical and beautifull heritage and celebrate its history, before it was vandalised by the ICI.
