The West Kennet Avenue runs for an incredible 2.5km. Some burials
have been found at the bottom of some of the
stones. Aubrey Burl suggests that avenues such as this were built in stretches, over the
years, by different generations of the population. There is likely male / female imagery
in many of the stone shapes, and their arrangement in relation to one another is probably
significant.

Access: The Avenue is close to Avebury village, which is well signposted.
