Cop Stone
Cop Stone. Grid Ref. NY496216. Easy to get to but watch where you park the car as I nearly had my sump knocked off by a stone that was hidden under the grass parking area. From there it's just a short walk to the stone or a long walk to a garage.
Information about this stone can be found in: Guide to Prehistoric England by Nicholas Thomas. It reads: 'Cop Stone is a megalithic upright 4.3/4ft high. It appears to be enclosed by a slight bank, much of which has disappeared since recorded by early observers'.
The Thunderstone (above) lies in a large field close to a
farm. Grid Ref. NY552157 The Goggleby Sone (below) is 1665
yds SE from this stone (NY559151) and can be easily accessed
through a gate (100m W of King's Arms Inn) - Grid Refs from Guide to Prehistoric England
by Nicholas Thomas.
