Not far from the picturesque town of Zagatala below the towering Caucasus mountains lies the enchanting monument of Perigala. This structure carved from the sheer cliff face with defense in mind is a place of mystery and legend. It can be accessed by abseiling or mountain climbing from below via a brick and mortar constructed towerwell. Folklore talks of it being a place where local ruler protected his daughter from betrothal to Genghis Khan. While it still has to be archaeologically investigated there are possibilities that it may be a religious recluse and be Sassinian in origin. There are some similarities to structures in Capadoccia in Turkey.
