This 3.5m tall standing stone is definitely the most beautiful menhir I visited in 2024 and one of the prettiest standing stones I have seen, with a beautiful view over Hjørundfjord. The stone is locally called "St Olavs Arrow" after a local legend. It was previously fallen over but was restored in 1890 by a youth organization.

It is 50-70cm wide and 20-25cm thick. It has a square cross section and clear edges and a flat top. It is located in a small grassy lawn on a flat area just above the sea and north of a small house.

I would like to learn more about Store-Standal. I understand the two villages merged sometime in the past. Could you tell me more information. My family has roots in Standal (I am 4th generation in the US)and it is on my bucket list to return and visit. Thank You, Edward Standal, Minnesota, US
