Description: Remnants of a Vanished Civilization? The Markawasi plateau mapped and written about in the 1950's by Peruvian explorer and philosopher, Dr. Daniel Ruzo, is squarely attributed to the field of forbidden archaeology. Legendary for its gigantic anthropomorphic and zoomorphic stones dating back thousands of years before the Great Flood, the plateau sits at an altitude of over 12,000 feet above sea level, reached by a trek on foot or horseback along a steep path from the tiny village of San Pedro, located on the western Andean ridge of Peru.
