Description
One of the most noticeable crosses on the edge of the cliff below the castle.
In 'Ancient Sites in Penwith' by Cheryl Straffon, in the section for 'Crosses', 'St Michael's Mount', she writes: "... an ancient magnificent 6ft shafted and decorated cross (5144 2981) on the SW side poised precariously above the sea."

How odd, I took a set of almost identical photos of the crosses on the Mount this summer and found them lurking on my computer yesterday (I forgot to upload them) - not much point as I'd just be replicating your pics!

Ahh, but your zoom of the other cross was much better! Most of your pics are much better, come to that.. ;-)

Looks like you had a sunnier day though! Showers kept sweeping in. Not a place for a pushchair - glad I was carrying Finn.

It was ok then Jim, but earlier was awful. The tiny boat going over had to have the hood up because it was so rough. Very grey skies then .. and my face, too, I bet! It was pretty nerve-wracking. How's Finn enjoying his meg.sites? ;-)

He liked Avebury last week - lots of other people and their dogs to look at! The West Kennet longbarrow wasn't such a hit - it was bitterly cold in the wind, or maybe it was just cutting in to his lunchtime. He needed a lot of clothes to keep warm though, don't think the temperature went above freezing all day.
