Description
Looking down from the eastern end of Hengistbury Head, across the spit of sand that points approx NNE/N and is known today as 'Mudeford Beach'. Comparing the plan and the relief model from the museum at Christchurch, this long leg of sand enclosing Christchurch Harbour has become narrower over the years.
