Approaching the Hele Cross from the minor road to the west. It is visible on the skyline, despite the number of trees around it. A very nice wayside cross, although Pastscape tells us it was moved a little further back from its original position due to a small gravel quarry encroaching upon it. The socket stone is hidden deep in ivy and brambles. Apparently the shaft is secured to the socket stone

Description
Approaching the Hele Cross from the minor road to the west. It is visible on the skyline, despite the number of trees around it. A very nice wayside cross, although Pastscape tells us it was moved a little further back from its original position due to a small gravel quarry encroaching upon it. The socket stone is hidden deep in ivy and brambles. Apparently the shaft is secured to the socket stone with an iron clamp.
