Millstreet Country Park
Date Added: 17th Sep 2010
Site Type: Museum
Country: Ireland (Republic of) (Co. Cork)
Visited: Yes on 19th Mar 2010

Millstreet Country Park submitted by Andy B on 19th Mar 2010. I suppose that Millstreet Country Park should be described as a theme park, its theme being the wildlife, archeology and history of the area. It must be unique in that its entrance is around 390m up a mountain. After you enter, you must drive around 2Km and drop about 180m to reach the visitor centre. The photo shows a recreated crannóg, a prehistoric dwelling on an artificial island, just one of the delights of this wonderful place.

Godin Tepe submitted by Andy B on 20th Nov 2011. Before excavation, Godin Tepe, an archaeological site in western Iran, looked like a massive human-made mound. Turns out, the site has a history stretching back into prehistoric times. It was excavated by T. Cuyler Young Jr. in the 1960s and 1970s. Cuyler Young passed away in 2006 and was unable to fully publish his work before he died.
Recently a team of researchers completed the task with more research on the site, which is detailed in the book "On the High Road: The History of Godin Tep...

Mount Sadahurip submitted by Andy B on 18th Jan 2012. Mount Sadahurip pyramid shaped hill. You can see conical shapes in the background of the image which are natural cinder cones. Perhaps the structure is a volcanic cinder cone that has been transformed into a pyramidal structure by making the sides into triangular surfaces.
