Stanbury Hill 07

Stanbury Hill 07 submitted by Andy B on 30th Nov 2008. 102 - Cups, some ringed, short grooves, one cup with groove out and two ring. What is especially interesting about this rock is that it has been 'dressed' after carving and appears to have been cut from a larger rock. This raises the possibility is that it was cut down and moved to it's present location some time after it was originally carved.

In the area of Bingley Moor known as Fenny Shaw, there is one definite carved rock (IAG108), one catalogued as carved but doubtful (IAG112), and a rock carved in 2005 as part of a long term study into the weathering and degradation of rock art. Photo shows view over 108 looking towards Stanbury Hill Western end which is in the middleground, left to centre.

Gouthwaite Lodge Farm 03 submitted by Andy B on 28th Apr 2011. Gillian Hovell writes: We were invited to the farm in Yorkshire to make sense of a prehistoric settlement and while there we found one carved rock. A few weeks later (only a few weeks ago) we found one more nearby (just a metre from the first) and another just one more metre to the south. We plan to dedicate some time to recording and checking this amazing group of carvings and the surrounding area. Photos copyright Gillian Hovell
