Cherkley Court Barrows submitted by Andy B on 7th Apr 2010. The location of this round barrow, just on the corner of Stane Street with the track down to Cherkley Court is now completely covered in shrub. There may be a slight rounding of the terrain but it's very difficult to tell.

Visited: Yes on 15th Apr 2010

Ashtead Common Earthwork submitted by Andy B on 15th Apr 2010. A view of the large triangular earthworks on Ashtead Common. There are a lot of dead trees in the centre, I presume these are being allowed to die and not being replaced.

Hillbury hillfort
Date Added: 17th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Surrey)
Visited: Yes on 9th Jul 2010

Hillbury hillfort submitted by Andy B on 9th Jul 2010. At the north-western corner of Puttenham Common, this is one of its few areas not infested with bracken. The iron age fort is barely discernible as such, its banks are not very noticeable. The interior of the fort is covered in bracken, grass and heather. In the far distance is the west end of the Hog's Back.

Albury Bottom Enclosure
Date Added: 4th Apr 2012
Site Type: Misc. Earthwork
Country: England (Surrey)
Visited: Yes on 6th Nov 2011

Albury Bottom Enclosure submitted by Andy B on 6th Nov 2011. SolarMegalith explores the Albury Bottom Enclosure on a very waterlogged day after a whole night of torrential rain.
The whole place turned into a giant bog which makes me doubt whether anyone would want to live there, this site has to be a cattle enclosure of some date or other.

Badshot Lea
Date Added: 4th Apr 2012
Site Type: Long Barrow
Country: England (Surrey)
Visited: Yes on 6th Nov 2011

Badshot Lea submitted by Andy B on 6th Nov 2011. The site of Badshot Lea long barrow, which now has Doggy Day Care as its neighbour! The lady here was pleasant and we stayed clear until she had moved the (very barky) dogs in her care.
This is "immediately east of the railway cutting" so I think the barrow would have lain along this narrow strip of land

St Bertram's Well (Bunster Hill)
Date Added: 12th Jun 2015
Site Type: Holy Well or Sacred Spring
Country: England (Staffordshire)
Visited: Yes on 9th Jul 2013
St Bertram's Well (Bunster Hill) submitted by Andy B on 9th Jul 2013. Here's a picture of St Bertram's Well taken on July the 5th. The wellhead is in a poor condition and needs preservative attention. One of the reasons why it looks like a pile of limestone rubble is that the local farmer who owns or rents the adjacent sheep pasture is piping water from the wellhead to his field. I know that the Megalithic Portal isn't a restorative organisation put perhaps you know who should be contacted for possible remedial action.
Sincerely,
Neil Theasby

Site Type: Ancient Trackway
Country: England (Somerset)
Visited: Yes on 16th Aug 2007

Harters Hill submitted by Andy B on 16th Aug 2007. Harters Hill excavation - The remains of a late Bronze Age ritual alignment of oak piles and small stakes surrounded by masses of worked wood, that was built in a wetland in 1076 BC. Desiccation has caused the overlying peat deposits to oxidise, shrink and waste away until the ground surface has reached the tops of the oak piles. Now the wooden structure itself is beginning to be damaged by desiccation. Photo copyright Somerset County Council.
