Islesburgh

Islesburgh submitted by Andy B on 13th Jul 2011. Further up the hillside another prehistoric enclosure, this one circular, affords a fuller view of the water beyond Mavis Grind. The function of this space is not clear, perhaps it is just an additional area of arable cultivation established after the D-shaped enclosure. On the other hand perhaps an enclosure that was more completely associated with life and even less with death was desirable. A lambing enclosure perhaps? Image copyright Simon Clarke
