Albury Bottom Enclosure

Albury Bottom Enclosure submitted by Andy B on 6th Nov 2011. SolarMegalith explores the Albury Bottom Enclosure on a very waterlogged day after a whole night of torrential rain. The whole place turned into a giant bog which makes me doubt whether anyone would want to live there, this site has to be a cattle enclosure of some date or other.

Badshot Lea

Badshot Lea submitted by Andy B on 6th Nov 2011. The site of Badshot Lea long barrow, which now has Doggy Day Care as its neighbour! The lady here was pleasant and we stayed clear until she had moved the (very barky) dogs in her care. This is "immediately east of the railway cutting" so I think the barrow would have lain along this narrow strip of land

Godin Tepe

Godin Tepe submitted by Andy B on 20th Nov 2011. Before excavation, Godin Tepe, an archaeological site in western Iran, looked like a massive human-made mound. Turns out, the site has a history stretching back into prehistoric times. It was excavated by T. Cuyler Young Jr. in the 1960s and 1970s. Cuyler Young passed away in 2006 and was unable to fully publish his work before he died. Recently a team of researchers completed the task with more research on the site, which is detailed in the book "On the High Road: The History of Godin Tep...

The journey starts 400 million years ago with a dramatic story of geological events and traces the arrival of people and their effect on the landscape.
