Dunchraigaig Cairn

Dunchraigaig Cairn submitted by AngieLake on 25th Sep 2008. Walked past this one on the way to Ballymeanoch monuments in 2002. Maybe it suffers from lack of interest because of visitors' urge to see the other site?

Barns Farm Dalgety Fife

Barns Farm Dalgety Fife submitted by AngieLake on 25th Sep 2008. This Spey Curragh, displayed at the Coracle Museum in Cenarth in Wales is similar to the type found re-used as a coffin at a site excavated in Fife in 1974, and believed to be Barns Farm, Dalgety. The photo [top] shows the info board with that intriguing information, and the photo bottom, the full-sized coracle on display.

Machrie Moor 1. submitted by AngieLake on 11th Sep 2008. Machrie Moor 1. The large leaning stone in the centre of this pic is the one I recorded at N of centre of the circle. Very exciting findings by Burl and other archaeologists that there were once timber circles and a horseshoe setting of wood posts here. June 2002

Tormore 2

Tormore 2 submitted by AngieLake on 9th Sep 2008. Going by my sketch on the day, this view is looking towards a gap in the hills to the NE. [Checked this site grid ref on www.danu.co.uk/gallery/info/stones/mosscairn.html. Calling it "Moss Farm Cairn", "grid ref NR 90590 32367", they say that it is: "An excavated cairn circle which lies in a field south of trackway to Machrie Moor just west of Moss Farm." It was definitely between Moss Farm Road Circle and the main Machrie Moor circles.]

Machrie Moor 10

Machrie Moor 10 submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. Stones at the SW of the Moss Farm Road (or Machrie Moor 10) circle. The stone on the left resembles the head and shoulders of a hooded person. It faces into the circle, and towards the NE and Midsummer sunrise. There's a dip in the hills at NE, and my ritual movement dowsing headed out of the circle in that direction. Its inner face also seems to have a circular carving.

Moss Farm Stone

Moss Farm Stone submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. This is the view of Moss Farm standing stone looking towards a boulder which has been inscribed as a present-day memorial. (Hence the fencing around it.) I wasn't sure if the boulder was brought there recently or always stood in that place, to the NE of the standing stone. (The flat face viewed here is the stone's West face, the other facing East.)
