Gors Fawr Stone Circle

Gors Fawr Stone Circle submitted by AngieLake on 19th Jul 2008. There's a beautiful Japanesey-style tree at the site, which a better photographer than me could make a lovelier image with! Circle is in the background.

Harolds Stones submitted by AngieLake on 26th Jun 2006. Harolds Stones in Trellech with the church tower (hiding behind the tree at upper left of pic) in the background. A lovely, atmospheric site on a beautiful sunny Summer's day (11 June 2006). Note the pronounced cup-marks in the central stone (close-up to follow).

Virtuous Well

Virtuous Well submitted by AngieLake on 4th Sep 2006. The Virtuous Well in bottom right-hand corner, showing the position of Trellech church. The gate to the field is behind me here. The sign reads:"The Virtuous Well. Once known as St Ann's Well and famous for its cures. It was visited by many pilgrims as late as the seventeenth century. It is said to be four separate springs, three containing iron and each curing a different illness. Its niches held offerings and cups. Stone seats gave rest to the weary traveller."

Beuno's Well (Clynnog Fawr)

Beuno's Well (Clynnog Fawr) submitted by AngieLake on 11th Jul 2006. St Beuno's Well, or Fynnon Beuno, at Clynnog Fawr. This was once very popular with pilgrims and looked very inviting from the road. (Beware when visiting, as this road is lethal - the traffic whizzes past about an inch from your nose; and, fool that I am, I was there at leaving work time! There are no pavements and it's quite narrow, with no verge. I walked along it trying to catch a glimpse of the dolmen, as well as the well!)

Bachwen submitted by AngieLake on 24th Jul 2006. I vowed to visit this site after seeing one of Hamish's earlier pics. I took loads of photos in cloudy conditions, then, just before I was due to leave (about 6.30pm) the sun came out! Cue: a repeat performance and an expensive visit for me, using my non-digital cameras. This picturesque site is now one of my all-time favourite places, and I was very fortunate to have it all to myself for 2 hrs.

Dyffryn Ardudwy submitted by AngieLake on 24th Jun 2007. Just in case anyone makes the mistake I did when visiting Dyffryn Ardudwy in 03 (asked in shop and directed to another at top of hill!) THIS is the gate near the school which is used to access the narrow lane to the site. I parked in a cul-de-sac just to the west of here.

Moel Ty Uchaf

Moel Ty Uchaf submitted by AngieLake on 17th Jul 2006. This is the side nearest the ridge upon which Moel ty Uchaf stands, of the pile of stones I was led to whilst dowsing a ritual movement route at the site. At first glance it appeared to resemble a collapsed cairn or tomb. I came from Moel ty Uchaf's circle, down over the slope in a roughly southerly direction, at an angle towards my left slightly but aiming straight towards it (not having seen it before hand). On the way, there were three separate single anticlockwise movements, at equal dista...

Druids Circle (Penmaenmawr) submitted by AngieLake on 7th Oct 2005. The view north east across Conway Bay towards Llandudno. The Druids Circle is one of the most beautifully-situated circles I've visited, and well-worth the walk. Is it possible to 'fall in love' with a circle? Well I did with this one!
