Arbor Low Earthwork
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Multiple Stone Rows / Avenue
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 28th Dec 2007

Arbor Low Earthwork submitted by AngieLake on 28th Dec 2007. This stone stands virtually alone in the large field surrounding Gib Hill. Here (freezing cold 16 Dec 07) Arbor Low henge lies at about 60-65 degs from the stone... possible to see Summer Solstice sun rising over the banks from this position, I guess??
Gib Hill is due south.

Country: Scotland (Argyll)
Visited: Yes on 12th Nov 2005

Temple Wood S submitted by AngieLake on 12th Nov 2005. Temple Wood on a sunny day in 2002. The central cist below, and all the stone arrangements immediately around it looked too neat, somehow. Just part of an amazing area of megalithic sites running SSW/NNE through the Kilmartin Glen in Argyll.

Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: England (Cumbria)
Visited: Yes on 18th Nov 2005

Giants Grave, Kirksanton submitted by AngieLake on 18th Nov 2005. I wonder if this is what Jack is referring to as the cup-mark on the eastern stone at Kirksanton? (See the large circular mark about 1/3 of the way up the near stone).

Merry Maidens (Circle)
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 6th Jan 2006

Merry Maidens (Circle) submitted by AngieLake on 6th Jan 2006. This arc of the Merry Maidens is bathed in light from the setting sun on May 25th 2005. The nearest stone to the camera was approximately at the ESE of the circle, and such an unusual shape compared to the other more rectangular ones that I christened it the 'Goddess Stone', as it has the curvy shape of a female torso and was the focus of the final part of my ritual movement dowsing exercise. (The first part of the movement addressed 290 degs - sunward - on a short looping walk out of the circle...

Avebury
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 6th Jan 2006

Avebury submitted by AngieLake on 6th Jan 2006. This stone is near the ENE henge banks at Avebury. Though it's in the segment where the Cove stands, it is one of the furthest from that feature.
As it was hot and sunny the day after Summer Solstice I made the effort to walk right around the banks barefoot and saw parts of Avebury that I didn't know existed.

Trevelgue Barrows
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Barrow Cemetery
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 24th Feb 2006

Trevelgue Barrows submitted by AngieLake on 24th Feb 2006. An interesting shot of the two barrows - high on the skyline - on Trevelgue Downs, taken from the old footpath from St Columb Minor near Newquay. This path leads up a lane near the church towards Porth, where Trevelgue promontory fort can be found. It's a pleasant walk along a fenced lane between fields, then down tracks through a field (here) sloping towards the coast. These barrows are on the cliff edge of the next headland to the north of the promontory fort.

Balnuaran of Clava Centre
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Ring Cairn
Country: Scotland (Highlands)
Visited: Yes on 16th Mar 2006
Balnuaran of Clava Centre submitted by AngieLake on 16th Mar 2006. This is an intriguing stone, standing south of the central 'cairn' at Balnuaran of Clava Cairns near Inverness. It has a lovely pattern in its southern face, with one mark very like an 'eye'.
I dowsed a ritual processional movement here that focussed on the 'eye'; the three causeways of the central 'cairn'; and moved clockwise around it, also acknowledging a stone at the east, before ending on the cobbles at the southern edge of the central space of the cairn.

Drift Stones
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jun 2006

Drift Stones submitted by AngieLake on 1st Jun 2006. Drift Stones photographed from a position near the field gateway on 23rd May 2006. If you are planning to visit these stones please note that a new crop is just sprouting in this field. I was lucky when I visited and dowsed in March 2004, as it was all grass then. (The dowsing results were unique in my experience, by the way.)
If you look really closely Tresvennack Pillar is the tall white thing under the pyramid-shaped bump in the hedge, centre far left.

Ham Hill stone circle
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Modern Stone Circle etc
Country: England (Somerset)
Visited: Yes on 2nd Jun 2006

Ham Hill stone circle submitted by AngieLake on 2nd Jun 2006. Stone-lovers may have a 'love-hate' relationship with this modern circle at Ham Hill, but the shapes are interesting - especially here, as two curving menhirs seem to acknowledge the daytime moon.
