Drift Stones
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jun 2006

Drift Stones submitted by AngieLake on 1st Jun 2006. Drift Stones photographed from a position near the field gateway on 23rd May 2006. If you are planning to visit these stones please note that a new crop is just sprouting in this field. I was lucky when I visited and dowsed in March 2004, as it was all grass then. (The dowsing results were unique in my experience, by the way.)
If you look really closely Tresvennack Pillar is the tall white thing under the pyramid-shaped bump in the hedge, centre far left.

Visited: Yes on 20th Feb 2010

Down Tor submitted by AngieLake on 20th Feb 2010. This restored cross stands just south of the track from Burrator reservoir, and NNE of Down Tor stone row and circle. Check out the lime green square link to 'Streetmap' OS map on the site page for position... (it's not the one near Crazywell Pool). Though it's a bit 'washed out', it gives some idea of the beauty of the area.
(Have just come across this old photo, taken long before I got into stones! Surprised there aren't more pics of Down Tor or Hingston Hill site. Must try to visit th...

Derreenataggart
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Ireland (Republic of) (Co. Cork)
Visited: Yes on 16th Sep 2004

Derreenataggart submitted by AngieLake on 16th Sep 2004. Here's another view of the circle near Castletownbere, on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. The spelling on the brown pointer notice board at the site was 'Derrintaggart West', but in the Discovery Map series it is referred to as Derreenataggart. It is a beautiful site that I hope to return to one day: one of the hundreds of megalithic sites that litter the Beara Peninsula.

Cuckoo Stone (Wiltshire)
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)

Visited: Yes on 10th Dec 2006

Cuckoo Stone (Wiltshire) submitted by AngieLake on 10th Dec 2006. A twin shot of the western end of the Cuckoo Stone near Larkhill on 5th December. In the top close-up pic you might notice a round indentation at bottom right of stone, behind a tuft of grass. Don't know if this is significant, or just man's damage.
This was taken around 3pm, looking towards Woodhenge.

Creeg Tol
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Rock Outcrop
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 22nd Mar 2004

Creeg Tol submitted by AngieLake on 22nd Mar 2004. Creeg Tol - Barrow Hole"- (SW411277) a small, possibly modern circle (if old, would have maybe been a cairn circle). NW of Boscawen Un, just off the footpath on the way back to the main road layby- (Not towards farm!) . Tucked away amongst the bracken, below large rocks with unusually shaped basins ("The Giant's Footprints"). Boscawen Un is clearly seen from the tops of these towards the SE. The tallest stone is only about 2ft high, and there is a smallish white quartz stone at 260 deg.

Cow Castle submitted by AngieLake on 30th Apr 2007. Cow Castle from the base of the Calf, the smaller conical hill. You can see the well-worn footpath leading to the fortification. It was a bit cloudy when I got there (about 5.30pm last Weds.), but the sun obliged by coming out later on.
