(Also known as 'the cathedral of the moor'). In the church leaflet we read: "By the church gate is to be found a very fine celtic cross. St Cleer's Well submitted by AngieLake on 20th Oct 2004. This is a close-up of the monk-like figure in the niche on the front wall of the well-house. I couldn't help noticing the phallic shape of the granite point on the roof, though maybe it was just the angle! Perhaps a relic of more Pagan times.

King Doniert's Stone submitted by AngieLake on 19th Oct 2004. In this picture, the interlaced engraving on the side of the tallest stone can be seen more clearly. Granite is very hard stone to carve, so it must have taken a long time to make those patterns. The inscription about King Doniert is on the shaded side of the shorter stone in the foreground.

Boskednan stone circle submitted by AngieLake on 15th Oct 2004. The portals at Boskednan as they appeared in March 2004, before the huge stone on the left of picture was re-erected. Carn Galva, which now seems to be framed by these stones, is visible on the right horizon. Between the tall standing stone and the rocky outcrop of Carn Galva, can just be seen the pointed stones of the 'destroyed barrow' (as described by Ian McNeil Cooke in his excellent book "Mermaid to Merrymaid - Journey to the Stones").

Boskednan A submitted by AngieLake on 15th Oct 2004. This eye-catching stone is in what first appears to be a small circle, near the footpath to Boskednan from Men an Tol. According to the OS map (Explorer 102) it is a 'Tumuli', (near "Carn Galver"). It is on the higher ground (its own little ridge - 227m), and seems to point to the right of Carn Galva, on the left of picture, and more towards the knobby outcrop of granite in the right distance. Just across the lane from the 'gated' end of the churchyard path at Morwenstow - famous poet-priest, Hawker's - church. (A level path runs through the churchyard, just above the entrance gate to the drive of the Vicarage. There is a plan of the area opposite the main gateway to the church, near the tearooms and carpark.) Approach down overgrown steps fringed by fronds of ferns.

The two tall stones and their shadows viewed from another angle, showing the proximity of the farm house beside the lane, close to which I'd parked in a small layby. This was taken one gloriously sunny evening in May 2002. The views over Trearddur Bay are stunning, and I would guess that the distant hills must be on the Lleyn Peninsula, on the south side of Caernarfon Bay. This site is actually on Holy Island, but joined to Anglesey (Ynys Mon) by several roads.

Derreenataggart submitted by AngieLake on 16th Sep 2004. Here's another view of the circle near Castletownbere, on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. The spelling on the brown pointer notice board at the site was 'Derrintaggart West', but in the Discovery Map series it is referred to as Derreenataggart. It is a beautiful site that I hope to return to one day: one of the hundreds of megalithic sites that litter the Beara Peninsula.

The Longstone (Shovel Down) submitted by AngieLake on 14th Sep 2004. This lovely megalith is known as The Longstone and stands on the eastern slopes of Shovel Down at SX660857. A north/south avenue leads directly to it. Kes Tor, seen in the background, is NE of the Longstone. There are numerous stone rows in the vicinity, and Scorhill circle is not far away to the northeast.
According to Richard Cavendish's book 'Prehistoric England' (Artus Books, Orion Publishing 1983):
