D15 Loon
Date Added: 18th Apr 2024
Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: Netherlands (Drenthe)
Visited: Yes on 13th Apr 2024. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 3 Access 4

D15 Loon submitted by Martin_L on 26th Jan 2011. Oblique pole aerial view* from the SE. The impressive 5 capstone passage-grave has preserved most stones of its oval enclosure appr. (16,5m by 10m). Most of them are fallen. The 9,6m [1] chambers' megalithic skeleton is largely in situ except for the central capstone C3, that was partly robbed in historic times. As at several other sites in Drenthe the westernmost capstone is the largest.
*Foreground slightly stretched in this one as a result of wide-angle lens
