Everstorfer Forst Nord (5) submitted by holger_rix on 9th Apr 2008. German info: 'Urdolmen unter Bodenniveau mit Deckstein und Einstiegsplatte'
Burial Chamber with (broken) capstone.
Somebody broke the capstone into two pieces. Obviously the split didn't work out as planned, so the smaller part fall into the chamber and was left there. What a pity !

Log Text: Here the stone setting and the former burial chamber are still very well preserved, although the tumulus is badly eroded. More recently, clearing work seems to have been needed after the storms and the dying pine forests. Therefore, the megalithic tomb is more "open air" now.

Log Text: Unfortunately, the area is heavily overgrown and the individual graves in the forest are badly damaged, looted or covered by rubbish most of the time. The tumuli can, however, still be clearly recognized (although they are not very high).
Some of the tumuli can be reached easily, others require a longer walk.
