Log Text: I really wanted to see Skagen (simply because it's so far north in Denmark). One automatically encounters these modern dolmens on the way to the beach.

Log Text: The structure of the former ring wall castle can be seen very well in the landscape. Unfortunately there was fog during my visit. However, it was still possible to take good photos, as the facility is simply overwhelmingly large for its time in Denmark.

Log Text: Absolutely overwhelming in its size and a nice end to my day tour. Made a little picnic here for myself before heading back to the accommodation. The long barrow is simply gigantic compared to German megalithic tombs.

Ildbjerg Langdysse submitted by Martin_L on 31st May 2010. Scan from old diapositive (sorry for quality) showing the very impressive site from the NE. The capstone of the southern chamber is clearly visible. The northern chamber is to the right of it, but less obvious as the capstone is robbed. As at similar sites the kerb-stones of the narrow sides are significantly larger. June 1992

Stenvad 50 Kroner Dysse submitted by Martin_L on 8th Apr 2008. The northeastern chamber is quite picturesque.
It is one of Denmarks most famous megalithic tombs: It even was depicted on the 50 kroner-banknote. Some barrow kerbstones are also visible on this picture [April 1992]. Scan from old diapositive, sorry for bad quality.

Log Text: Totally in love with this site as the ambiance is so beautiful. If it hadn't been so windy, I would definitely have stayed longer. The grave is well preserved as a dolmen, although the tumulus can still be seen to some extent.
