Log Text: According to information from local people, this tumulus dates from the Neolithic Age (not the Bronze Age!). It is quite easy to reach on foot and there is a beautiful viewing platform next to it.

Midlum Henkenstein submitted by Martin_L on 29th Oct 2007. This is the western end of a chambered tomb. One large capstone and 3 orthostats are still in place so it looks like a dolmen, although it is not. There are significant remains of the barrow.
It is also referred to as Sprockhoff No. 606.
According to his research (Atlas der Megalithgräber Teil 3, Textband Page 3) the tomb originally had a length of 6-8m.

Due to the threat of sinking into the marshy soil the remains of the tomb were transferred to Wanna. Here the chamber was reconstructed.
The recent localisation is close to the school at Osterwanna, a few meters north of the Landesstraße (L 118), about 100 meters west of the sports field.
The reconstruction shows a "5 yokes-chamber", consisting of 5 capstones, 10 supporting stones at the long sides and 2 further uprights at the narrow sides.
