Grosssteingrab am Dorm

Grosssteingrab am Dorm submitted by AlexHunger on 11th Sep 2005. Grosssteingrab am Dorm from South. 9 Meter long Allee Couverte dating to about 3500 BCE. This site was excavated in 1950 and relocated 200 Meters to the side of the hill in order to make room for more intensive farming. Due the jumbled state of the stones, the nearby Lübbensteine were used as inspiration.

Nordsteimke Dolmengrab

Nordsteimke Dolmengrab submitted by AlexHunger on 22nd Aug 2005. Nordsteimke Dolmengrab Front view. Smallish 1.5 Meters by 1.9 Meters menhir with with unusually rounded cap stone, surounded by 6 boulder sized uprights and surounded by large vestigial tumulus. The Dolmen was discovered in 1972 and restored in 1975. The plaque says the dolmen dates to 2000 BCE, though this seems a little late for this type of monument. To the side of the parking lot in front of the Sports complex. Close to Wolfsburg, home of the VW Beetle.

Driehausen Menhir submitted by AlexHunger on 12th Dec 2005. Probably modern Menhir near Driehausen Chambered tomb. There are a lot of glacial eratics in the area from which this could be conveniantly used to beautify a small village.

Driehausen Grosssteingrab

Driehausen Grosssteingrab submitted by Martin_L on 1st Oct 2009. Central part of this impressive large chamber viewed from the South-East. The central capstones are out of place as several orthostats of the northern long-side were moved during "excavations" by the Graf (Earl) Münster in the beginning of the 19th century. Nowadays unfortunately it is badly neglected and suffers further damage by heavy tree growth inside the chamber. (2007)

Laehden Steingrab 1

Laehden Steingrab 1 submitted by Martin_L on 17th Jul 2011. Pole aerial view from the NW. Skeleton of a neolithic passage grave of Drenthe/Emsland-type. Although many stones are robbed and several of the remaining are out of place this is a fantastic and important site: 23m x 3m chamber originally covered by at least 15 capstones and surrounded by an extremely rare double oval enclosure. The enclosure is partly well preserved on the North-eastern long side. Capstones C1 (counting from the NW), C7, C12, C14 and C15 are missing.
