Huesby Dolmen

Huesby Dolmen submitted by holger_rix on 27th Nov 2007. The Dolmen of Huesby has been excavated from a Round Barrow not far from the village. The barrow has been used by several generations, and was surrounded by 3 rings of stones. The capstone is not original. The original has been brought to the museum of Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig.

Skovby Dyssekammer submitted by holger_rix on 1st Aug 2010. A Burial Chamber surrounded by a now almost demolished Round Barrow. Chamber restored 1937. Three orthostats preserved and a passage stone. Capstone is 2 m x 1.90 m x 0.80 m, on the upper surface 11 cupmarks. Chambers interior height from pit bottom to capstone is approx. 0.95 m. No kerb stones.

Log Text: The circular rampart is badly damaged by the heavy vegetation. However, the former rampart still stands out clearly from the forest floor and can easily be seen when approaching the coordinates in the forest.

Log Text: In the middle of the village of Wötz you can find this wonderful long barrow. It cannot be reached from the long barrow in the forest! It is best to stop on the road in Wötz and from there you can reach the site quickly and easily. It was the last megalithic tomb on my tour yesterday that I drove to.

There are the remains of a tomb, with complete uprights, as it seems. It looks like the most have moved outwards, the two visible capstones have fallen into the chamber. According to the informations on a board accross the street this tomb has been examined between 1936 and 1939. These are the kids of the owner.
