D43 Emmen Schimmeres submitted by Sunflowerbird on 7th Mar 2005. Emmen Schimeres is the only 'langgraf' in the Netherlands and feels very much like Wayland's Smithy. It has a complete kerb of massive stones and its chambers are just beginning to show through what is left of its barrow. A monster and a beauty just on the outskirts of Emmen (off the Odoorn Road). Signposted. Opposite the Mazda garage.

Chamber measuring 18m by 2,5m-4,5m (clear: 15m by 1,2m -3m). Width maximum at the centre where the lateral passage is situated. When Prof. van Giffen examined this massive 9,5m x 3,5m chamber in the early 20th century the orthostats were still in situ except for N2, but the capstones were scattered around. One capstone is missing and one is only partly preserved (now used as C1). C2 shows tool-marks from historic destruction attempts. Van Giffen assumed the entrance between orthostats S3 and S4. The position is marked "E". No traces left of a possible passage or an enclosure.

D47 Angelslo submitted by Martin_L on 27th Aug 2010. Pole aerial of the restored 5 capstone chamber. The tomb was partly well preserved, but capstones C3, C4, and C5 (counting from the NW) were missing as well as 4 orthostats and a possible passage when Professor van Giffen examined the site.

Log Text: Unfortunately, it is very overgrown at the moment and can hardly be seen. No direct way to the grave, so you have to cross the field. Best to visit in autumn and winter.

Only 4 orthostats are preserved: The eastern chamber end orthostat and one adjacent orthostat of each long side. When Sprockhoff et al. examined the site there was another orthostat in situ at position N3 (counting from the East). Nowadays this is not visible anymore, but instead there is a largely buried orthostat at position N2. Seemingly in situ.

Oldendorfer Fuhrenkamp (1) submitted by Martin_L on 27th Mar 2009. Western part. The numbers refer to the sketch plan. Remains of a partly destroyed, large chambered tomb orientated nearly East-West. At least 17 stones are visible nowadays, but still deeply embedded into the eroded barrow. Possibly other stones are still covered. Earthwork measuring approximately 32m x 12m x 2 m (May 2008).

Huesby Dolmen submitted by holger_rix on 27th Nov 2007. The Dolmen of Huesby has been excavated from a Round Barrow not far from the village.
The barrow has been used by several generations, and was surrounded by 3 rings of stones.
The capstone is not original. The original has been brought to the museum of Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig.
