As the megalithic tombs are located in a restricted military area, visits are only permitted at certain times that can be viewed on the Internet (here, too, there may be deviations!). I made the visit between Christmas and New Year, as there are usually no military maneuvers at this time.

Log Text: I was finally able to visit this place. Historically rich in different eras, this area is wonderful for a hike. The tumuli were my highlight. A total of 18 have been preserved here.

Log Text: The circular rampart is badly damaged by the heavy vegetation. However, the former rampart still stands out clearly from the forest floor and can easily be seen when approaching the coordinates in the forest.

Oldendorfer Fuhrenkamp (1) submitted by Martin_L on 27th Mar 2009. Western part. The numbers refer to the sketch plan. Remains of a partly destroyed, large chambered tomb orientated nearly East-West. At least 17 stones are visible nowadays, but still deeply embedded into the eroded barrow. Possibly other stones are still covered. Earthwork measuring approximately 32m x 12m x 2 m (May 2008).

Only 4 orthostats are preserved: The eastern chamber end orthostat and one adjacent orthostat of each long side. When Sprockhoff et al. examined the site there was another orthostat in situ at position N3 (counting from the East). Nowadays this is not visible anymore, but instead there is a largely buried orthostat at position N2. Seemingly in situ.
