The Grabhügelfeld Neegenbargsheide is a barrow cemetery in the Neegenbargsheide heath in Schwanewede (Lower Saxony/Germany). The cemetery was most likely used from the late Neolithic to the Bronze Age. A double burial was discovered during excavations in 1956. It consisted of two treetrunk coffins that were covered with stones. By XenonX3 (Own work) [CC0], via Wikimedia Commons

Log Text: A really beautiful museum. Although not particularly large, it still shines with a very large number of finds, expert staff who are happy to inform you about the exhibits, changing special exhibitions and an in-house shop where you can buy true-to-the-original self-made stone axes etc. from the museum's volunteer staff. It was definitely worth the visit today and I will be happy to come back!

Stapelstein

Stapelstein submitted by Martin_L on 8th May 2015. From the SE. Photo taken May 2015. The site consists of an eroded round barrow-like structure with what appears to be the remains of a bronze-age (?) stone-cist situated on top of it. Some minor stones visibleat the edges of the barrow. According to historic reports the site has been excavated and damaged in historic times. At least an excavation in 1877 is recorded, but it revealed no grave goods. What we see today most probably does not represent the original arrangement of the stones. ...

Drethem Schalenstein

Drethem Schalenstein submitted by holger_rix on 16th Sep 2009. Schalenstein (cup marked stone) near Drethem. The stone was found by a farmer in 1968. Somebody counted 44 marks scattered over one side of the stone. The stone was brought to a place near the road from Drethem to Hitzacker. A very inappropiate place. And, in my oppinion, it should have been placed with the marks showing upwards. That would have been, most likely, closer to the original position.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: The cups are clearly visible and can also be felt very well. Unfortunately, due to the stone itself, they don't come into 'magic' like on the other photos right now.
