Log Text: On a fine day the views are extensive and castle an Dinnas for example is easily visible.
This was the year I first visited St Dennis, I have been back many times since. A considerable number of the graves in St Dennis churchyard (completely within the old hillfort) are ancestors of mine.

Childe’s Tomb
Date Added: 5th Aug 2017
Site Type: Cairn
Country: England (Devon)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jun 1956. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 3 Access 1
Childe’s Tomb submitted by thecaptain on 28th Aug 2006. Childe’s Tomb seen here looking southeast.
This started life as an ancient kerbed burial cairn with central cist, but has since been Christianised with a cross as a marker for the “monks path” across the moor, if the legend of Childe is not believed.
Part of the circular kerb structure (diameter 5 metres) is thought to be original, as is perhaps the large cist within.
