Site Type: Rock Outcrop
Country: Channel Islands and Isle of Man (Jersey)
Visited: Yes on 10th Nov 2018. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 5 Access 3

Le Pinacle submitted by daved on 11th Mar 2004. Le Pinacle is a huge natural outcrop of red granite under which runs a 300mm seam of Dolerite. The Dolerite was mined in the Neolithic & Bronze Age for making polished stone axeheads which have turned up all over western Europe. In front you can just make out 2 Bronze Age parallel walls and a Romano Celtic temple incorporated in a Neolithic eclosure. You can pick up worked Neolithic flints incl. transverse arrow heads on the nearby excavation spoil heap.

Saint-Uzec menhir
Date Added: 1st Jan 2019
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: France (Bretagne:Côtes-D'Armor (22))
Visited: Yes on 30th Dec 2018. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 5
Saint-Uzec menhir submitted by TheCaptain on 22nd Apr 2011. Its crowning glory is the way it has been christianised with the addition of a granite cross on top and carvings on its front (southern) face, which show scenes from the bible and the "roughly hewn instruments of passion".
In the past it was also painted. This was all done in 1674, when the nearby chapel was built.

Menhirs dits Les Jumeaux submitted by Ginette on 3rd Sep 2005. Amaizing (apologies)
Finally found them after the third attempt. Hidden in a large field of maize that involved standing on the car roof to find them. Little menhir reminded me of a sun dial - larger one not so sure.

Abri de Cro-Magnon submitted by thecaptain on 2nd Sep 2006. Abri de Cro-Magnon UNESCO World Heritage site.
It's nothing much to see, just a little rock shelter in the cliff face shaded by a couple of large chestnut trees, with a little walled and fenced area around it.
It is sadly hidden round the back of the hotel and almost forgotten.
