Ile Guénioc

Ile Guénioc submitted by thecaptain on 17th Jun 2006. Just offshore from Presqu'ile Ste-Marguerite near the town of Landéda can be seen Ile Guénioc. This island, which is difficult to get to, has on it three massive cairns with their multitude of chambers and dolmens within them. In order to get here a boat is needed, and I think that landing on the island is controlled.

La Dame Blanche submitted by Adam Stanford on 3rd Mar 2005. A Menhir at Grid: UTM 677469 also known as the Ivy Stone, which is 3.5m of diorite, set 1m into the ground and packed in with smaller stones, sometimes known as Trig stones. The site was excavated in 1933 and a few metres to the southwest a pit was found which contained thousands of limpet shells. Unfortunately a farmer caused some damage with a sledgehammer in 1982 and although the outline is now altered it remains an impressive Menhir. It is also worth pointing out that before houses were buil...

Arthur's Stone

Arthur's Stone submitted by AngieLake on 21st Jun 2011. I found that the forecourt of the dolmen was orientated towards this prominent peak to the south. Apparently it is Skirrid Fawr - 'the sacred mountain'. Maybe its legend went back a very long way?
