The Malta National Museum of Archaeology submitted by CoppellaiaMatta on 16th Dec 2024. Described as: "Embracing couple. Archeomuseo Khaled al-Asaad
Trip No.3 Entry No.16 Date Added: 25th Dec 2024
Site Type: Museum
Country: Italy (Piemonte)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jan 2019

Archeomuseo Khaled al-Asaad submitted by CoppellaiaMatta on 12th Dec 2024. Peat in the soil near Lagone di Mercurago preserved many items made of highly perishable materials, including the renowned four wheels of Mercurago. The wheels were different in shape and size, therefore couldn't belong to a single cart. It is therefore thought that wheels and/or carts were made or repaired in Mercurago. The cast displayed in Arona shows a heavy duty wheel, probably suitable for an oxcart.
