A familiar aspect to those who travel north up the M3 from Southampton (just before the controversial Twyford Down cutting). Old Winchester Hill barrow cemetery submitted by JimChampion on 19th Feb 2005. February 2005, looking west from the OS trig point on the top of Old Winchester Hill. In the foreground is one of the enormous bronze age barrows (grid reference SU64042056), which has been hollowed out at some point (by those in search of treasure?). There are a variety of barrows in and around the hillfort.
