Under the Architect Imhotep, the original small mastaba was expanded in all directions to a height of 62 Meters, a length of 123 Meters and a width of 107 Meters. The stone blocks are much smaller than those of the later pyramids. The pyramid had a casing eventually, though this is now lost. Sam'al Lion Gate Right submitted by AlexHunger on 2nd Nov 2004. Sam'al Gate Lion Right ca 800 BCE. Southern Turkey, near the Syrian border. These Gate gardians are primitive versions of the type used later by the Assyrians. It is thought this one had been reworked from an earlier example. These objects are all located in the Berlin Pergamum Museum.
