Bougon Tumulus F submitted by TheCaptain on 5th Sep 2010. The ancient Bougon Tumulus F0, is at the southern end of the tumulus, and is a circular construction containing a circular chamber.
It has been dated to the middle of the 5th millenium BC, and as such is the oldest dated construction of all the Atlantic facing lands.

This is stated to be the oldest known and dated man made building in all the Atlantic facing lands.
Inside the entrance is a round room, roofed not with a large slab, but with corbelling.

Bretteville Allée Couverte submitted by TheCaptain on 26th Sep 2007. Bretteville Galerie Des Forges, just off the ferry at Cherbourg on an Easter visit to my sisters, at sunrise on a lovely April morning.
This was a lovely visit in the early morning sun, with dew and a bit of frost making everything sparkle, and some happy and contented cows wandering around in the surrounding fields.

Written in cuneiform script in the Akhadian language this tablet is the eleventh tablet in the Epic of Gilgamesh and describes how the gods sent a flood to destroy the world. Like Noah, Utnapishtim was forewarned and built an ark to house and preserve living things. After the flood he sent out birds to look for dry land.

This cemetery extends from the wood, across the hill top, with a glorious view to the coast, including Chalbury Hill Fort, and the impressive Bincombe Barrows.
This picture is taken on top of only one of three bank barrows (all in Dorset) with two round barrows to the left (N); the barrows go from behind the camera through the fields and into the wood.

Bruyère d'Usclas submitted by TheCaptain on 27th Oct 2007. The front does not have the oven door of nearby Coste-Rouge, but the entrance is to one side, which shows evidence of a carved and enlarged opening area.
The stones are fitted so well that almost no light gets in apart from through the entrance.
