Studied by the Schwerin University in 1970 and restored during this occasion. Many small artifacts found during excavation. NW - SE orientation. 19 Meters altitude. One of 7 tombs in close proximity. Island of Rügen.

Steinfeld Steingrab 2 submitted by AlexHunger on 1st May 2006. This relatively compact Alee Couverte consists of 8 uprights while 2 out of 3 cap stones survive. A fragment of the 3rd lies just beside the tomb. Archeologists presume the former tumulus was surrounded by kerbstones. The site has been restored since Sprockhoff's survey in the 1930s. North South Orientation. 61 Meters Altitude

Capstones visible in this picture: No. 1 (counting from West) is blown into 1 large and 2 small fragments (the latter not visible in this picture) an partly collapsed into the chamber. No. 2: is one of the largest capstones in this area, measuring approximately 4,1m x 2,6m x 1,8m. It is still resting on its orthostats, but not in situ. April 2008

Huesby Dolmen

Huesby Dolmen submitted by holger_rix on 27th Nov 2007. The Dolmen of Huesby has been excavated from a Round Barrow not far from the village. The barrow has been used by several generations, and was surrounded by 3 rings of stones. The capstone is not original. The original has been brought to the museum of Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig.

Burgstall Oppidum

Burgstall Oppidum submitted by AlexHunger on 18th Jun 2006. 1st and 2nd Century BCE Celtic Hillfort of about 1.2 Square Kilometer surface area. This section of about 5 Meter thick wall has been restored together with the wooden pilars that help suport it. The local community has set up a hiking circuit with information signs at regular distances.

Nordsteimke Dolmengrab submitted by AlexHunger on 22nd Aug 2005. Nordsteimke Dolmengrab Front view. Smallish 1.5 Meters by 1.9 Meters menhir with with unusually rounded cap stone, surounded by 6 boulder sized uprights and surounded by large vestigial tumulus. The Dolmen was discovered in 1972 and restored in 1975. The plaque says the dolmen dates to 2000 BCE, though this seems a little late for this type of monument. To the side of the parking lot in front of the Sports complex. Close to Wolfsburg, home of the VW Beetle.
