Ker-Han Dolmen submitted by AlexHunger on 30th Jan 2006. Dolmen taken from near Carnak in Bretagne and used as a familly Croft by an Archeologist. The back stone is the modern familly grave stone with the names and dates and not original to the Dolmen, but was fit in rather elegantly.

Bois Couturier Allée couverte

Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: France (Ile-de-France:Val-d'Oise (95))
Visited: Would like to visit

Bois Couturier Allée couverte submitted by greywether on 30th Jun 2005. A truly superb site which deserves to be better known. Restored and still sitting in its mound, the exceptional feature is the complete rebated porthole. Better still, the porthole "stopper" survives and is on display at the local museum. To add to the interest, there is "breast and necklace" art on the two outer portals, although now faint. Fantastic!

The slab sided chamber, 3 metres by 2 metres, is covered with a single large capstone, and has an entry looking over the Aude valley to the southeast at 160°. There is a small cairn surrounding the chamber, of which the excavations showed it to be of diameter only 8.5 metres, with an encircling circle of stones.

Dolmen des Lacs 2 submitted by richardfrance on 28th Jan 2008. We found 2 & 3 at Les Lacs but ran out of time to search for the others. (see Les Lacs 2 for more, and www.dolmen.wordpress.com for more photos, archaeologist sketches, etchings from 19th.c. and more text).

Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: France (Languedoc:Hérault (34))
Visited: Would like to visit

Bruyère d'Usclas submitted by TheCaptain on 27th Oct 2007. The front does not have the oven door of nearby Coste-Rouge, but the entrance is to one side, which shows evidence of a carved and enlarged opening area.
The stones are fitted so well that almost no light gets in apart from through the entrance.

Coste-Rouge Dolmen submitted by thecaptain on 7th Oct 2005. Coste-Rouge Dolmen on a sunny, but cold and windy afternoon in September.
Unfortunately, to see this dolmen nowadays, the full guided tour of the abbey has to be taken - there are no longer any open visits round the grounds because it has been made into an animal park.
But its worth it.
