Zeven Bergjes

Zeven Bergjes submitted by Dutch on 7th Jan 2022. Ground fog coming up in the end of October near the 7 bergjes on the Zuiderheide in Laren. Seen in North-West direction. Near Eemnesserweg cycle path. Ilford 400 ASA B&W film. Epson Perfection 3200 scanner. Olympus OM2n camera, Olympus OM Zuiko 24mm f2,8 lens.

Log Text: We measured and mapped the burial mounds on the Zuiderheide for an archeology project in secondary school. Good to practice some mathematics, but also to check if further disturbances were made since the last official measurements. These mounds and the ones on the Westerheide were close to school, so they were easy to access by bicycle.

Log Text: Impressive site. Also very touristy. A lot has disappeared, that much came clear.

Got sent away watching some stone carvings at the nearby Pumapunka, because the site was under surveillance said the guard. I was allowed to make some drawings of the carvings, but the guards wouldn't allow photographs to be taken there. While I was drawing, one of the guards dug up a few tiny artifacts with his hands and a pocket knife. Little puppets of some sort, he said that it was because of research that the Pumapunka site was closed.

Noticed tiny toads migrating towards Tihuanacu when I walked from there.

Log Text: Back in 1988 it was very busy, one was not allowed to get near the stones.
Even getting near the fencing would provoke warnings from the guards.
Not a pleasant visit, it felt like being caught in a tourist trap.

Which was a shame, because the nearby Avebury stone circle was accessible under very different circumstances. And was actually pleasant to visit.

Sacsayhuaman

Sacsayhuaman submitted by Dutch on 7th Jan 2022. Muyuq Marka, base of a tower at Sacsayhuamán, Cusco. Although not really megalithic, these remnants of a tower associate with megalithic monuments. Thanks to the Spanish I guess. The photo was taken in February 1997 with an Olympus OM2n camera and a Olympus OM Zuiko 28mm f/2.8 MC lens.

Log Text: Very intriguing site, hard to imagine what it looked like before the Spanish started to use it as a quarry. Friendly locals around, giving information about it's history.
Also some lippy kids standing gang like on the way up from Cusco, with a warning from an elderly lady to take heed for them.

Log Text: It was a bit of a hazy and drizzly morning, which made it slightly uncomfortable to be there initially. It started clearing up while I made some photo's.
Atmospheric, nice view on the bay if you climb on the surrounding rocks.

I'll look for the B&W negatives and see if they're worth a scan.

Drombeg Stone Circle submitted by Dutch on 31st Dec 2021. Photographed on 16 December 2019 13:31 with an Olympus E-M5, Zuiko 9-18mm lens, F8 - 1/250s - Iso 200. It was my second visit to this site. The first visit must have been in June 1988. I might have a slide or negative somewhere of that visit. We were lucky with the weather. Heavy showers a day earlier. A friendly robin landed on the left car mirror on the parking and stayed around.
