Hathor evolved from ishtar, to Astarte, to Ashtoreth and finaly to Hathor on the way from Sumer to Egypt, but the Phoenecias became steadily more influenced by the Egyptians on account of heavy trading activity.

This sarcophagus is very similar to those of the Egyptian 25th and 26th Dynasty. The Phoenecians became steadily more influenced by the Egyptians on account of heavy trading activity. The stone had to be imported from Egypt and was probably carved there except for the final inscriptions.

Cross of the Scriptures (Clonmacnoise) submitted by Sunny100 on 6th Sep 2010. The Famous 9th century 'Cross of the Scriptures', a 4 metre tall high cross at the monastic site of Clonmacnois. It has scenes from the life of Christ and other biblical episodes. Also, a panel shows St Ciaran founding the first section of his monastery - which is represented by a tree.
