Botudo menhirs

Botudo menhirs submitted by JohnGinny on 2nd Sep 2007. There are two menhirs at this location, which leads us to suspect it is an alignment. The first menhir was accessible, but the second one located in the field on the other side of the road was surrounded by that bane of all megalithic hunters - maize! We could find no reference to this second menhir - it was not on the Series Bleu map, nor could we get close, so John took a long shot standing on top of a big round straw bale. We will investigate during the winter.

Crec'h Coulm menhir

Crec'h Coulm menhir submitted by JohnGinny on 2nd Sep 2007. This superb 7.5 meter menhir lines up with the summit of the nearby Menez Bres - a historically significant mount of ancient Armorica. The village where this megalith dwells is called Men Hir - an indication of the stones importance. The spike on top of it used to hold a statue of St Peter, again in itself unusual, as most christianised menhirs have crosses on the top or carvings. It was difficult to locate and we would like to thank the lovely local lady of Men Hir who pointed us in the righ...

Drény Alignement

Drény Alignement submitted by JohnGinny on 2nd Sep 2007. A small alignement of 2 stones facing north east /south west. We were fortunate to find this pair as the field had only recently been cropped. The Roche Longue is directly north east about 250 meters away. They are delicately shaped stones located fairly high up (187 m) on the hill rise.
