Caldenhof Steingrab submitted by Martin_L on 16th Sep 2017. Neolithic chambered tomb near Ostercappeln. Due to the heavy damages it was not recognized as a megalithic tomb until 1976. Archaelogical examinations revealed, that the nowadays more or less randomly placed stones originally formed a 13m long chambered tomb. [Photo taken in 2012]

Seester Sloopsteene
Trip No.64 Entry No.4 Date Added: 17th Oct 2024
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia)
Visited: Yes on 26th Aug 2024. My rating: Condition 1 Ambience 2 Access 5

Seester Sloopsteene submitted by Martin_L on 14th May 2008. When Professor Körner and Professor Laux examined the tomb in 1969 for Sprockhoff's Atlas der Megalithgräber 10 large stones still were preserved.
In 2008 only 2 larger and 3 smaller stones (the latter are visible on this picture an numbered 3,4,5) could be made out. A stack of wood covered parts of the tomb, but it is obviously to small to hide all other missing stones. So most probably further stones got lost since 1969.

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)

Visited: Yes on 3rd Jul 2024. My rating: Condition 5 Ambience 4 Access 4

Menhir de Kerhouézel submitted by thecaptain on 24th Jul 2009. One of the Léon giants, the Kerhouézel menhir is a fantastic monster menhir, just inland from Porspoder. It must be nearly seven metres high and is fantastically smoothed and shaped.
My campervan, parked in the field entrance, is the only thing to give any feel for the size of this stone.
Truly a King of Léon.
