Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Germany (Lower Saxony, Bremen)
Visited: Yes on 8th Sep 2016. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 4 Access 4

Driehausen Grosssteingrab submitted by Martin_L on 1st Oct 2009. Central part of this impressive large chamber viewed from the South-East. The central capstones are out of place as several orthostats of the northern long-side were moved during "excavations" by the Graf (Earl) Münster in the beginning of the 19th century. Nowadays unfortunately it is badly neglected and suffers further damage by heavy tree growth inside the chamber. (2007)

Helmichsteine submitted by runastera on 17th Apr 2005. Hunedbed Germany #908 - Helmichsteine - located in my hometown Wallenhorst (State of Lower Saxony) near Osnabrueck. This megalithic grave is called Gevasteine, too. Geva was the wife of Duke Widukind, a famous saxon leader who fighted bloody battles against Emperor Carl the Great (Francs) around 780 A.D. (compare with hunebed Germany #909 Karlsteine) Geva was a sister of King Harold I. of Haithabu, a Viking Kingdom, located in todays State of Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish border. Legend say...
