Menhir dit la Conche-Verte submitted by thecaptain on 20th Dec 2005. In a little forest clearing amongst the sand dunes to the north of Olonnes-sur-Mer in Vendée, this 2 metre tall granite menhir is easily found.

Menhir des Droits de l'Homme submitted by thecaptain on 19th Dec 2006. This large menhir was erected here and inscribed in 1840 to commemorate the shipwreck of the "Droits de l'Homme" in 1797 with the loss of around 600 lives.
The stone is a real menhir moved here from elsewhere. It's next to a car park besides this phenomenal beach, with the surf pounding in all around, creating its own fog !

Menhir des Demoiselles (Colombiers-sur-Seulles) submitted by thecaptain on 28th Apr 2005. Just over 2 metres in height, this menhir is set in its own little grassy area beside the road junction just uphill to the east of the village. It is a square pillar with several holes and indentations, and has been broken in the past at both top and bottom (probably during the war) and is now remounted on a concrete post. While I was here it was sunny between the clouds, there was a bike race going on past the stone, and an old warplane flying above, which all added to a nice French rural scen...
