Deep in the woods of Tangeln, a well preserved Long Barrow.
Area has been cleaned not too long ago.
Size of the barrow 23,6m x 5,2m (NW) / 6,4m (SE).
Number of kerbstones apprx. 38.
Two fallen guardian stones (Wächter) at the corners of the south end.
They are overgrown and hard to see.
In the NW end of the barrow, a Chambered Tomb.
The chamber is deep in the ground.
Size apprx. 5m x 1.8m; build with 4 orthosta...

Long Barrow with Chambered Tomb in Saxony-Anhalt
Original size of the Long Barrow about 46,5 x 6,5 x 4,8m
(A bit smaller on the south end)
The barrow had about 60 kerbstones, 53 of them are still there.
All of these kerbstones have fallen and are out of place.
This mass of de-arranged stones give the tomb a weird look..
The cornerstones of the former south end are of unusual size;
2,3 x 1,6 x 0,8m and 2,5 x 1,8 x 0,6m

'Spitzen Berg' are the remains of three megalithic tombs.
Tomb No. 2 is located just 100m west of the easily spotted
hilltop. Same as tomb No. 3, you can only reach
it if you can walk over the fields.
Schadewohl 2 (or Tomb 38 according to the official book
'Großsteingräber in der Altmark') is an Extended Dolmen
with four pairs of uprights on the long sides, and a single
stone on the short. Chamber size 5.7m x 1....

Molmke Steingrab submitted by holger_rix on 30th Oct 2009. 1.4km west of the small village Molmke, south of Diesdorf, not far from Diesdorf Steingrab 3, there is another typical 'Altmark Grossdolmen' with enclosure.
And same as the other barrows in the area, the enclosure has two oversized guardian stones in the corners of the south-east end.
Unfortunately the NW part of the enclosure is missing.
Thats exactly where the comparative well preserved chamber is located.
There is something unusual about this chamber.

Five of the eight orthostats remain and three capstones.
But almost all these stones have been moved or are out of place, so the tomb gives the impression of just a pile of big stones.

While the western and eastern chamber parts are well preserved, the capstones of the central part are out of place. The "P" marks the location of the lateral entrance passage. The kerbstones of the enclosure are well preserved, but often moved out of place by the floating (caused by erosion) earthwork.
