Log Text: There are two of tumuli in this area: One north, one south. Both are at about the same height above sea level. Each has a view of the other.
Babylon South is a small tumulus approx 1 metre high with clear sea views over Eastboune and towards Hastings. It is a highpoint having high views looking immediately south.
Babylon North is in the high point of a wooded area. Now less than 0.5 metres high, it is highly damaged: A footpath runs through the centre of it. Were in not for the woods, it would also have clear sea views. It is also a highpoint overlooking the immediate north.

Windover Hill Flint Mines submitted by jonm on 28th Sep 2012. Several bowl shapes in area thought to be flint mines. A curious feature of each bowl is a slightly raised platform in front of most of the bowls. This platform in this picture located adjacent to the bowl at 50.80953N, 0.19037E

Log Text: These structures are thought to be flint mines. Curiously, the miners opted to dig large bowl shapes into the rock rather than opt for seam trenches: Given that the first layers of chalk are typically weathered, this choice of mining technique would have resulted in a yield of approximately 10% of that which could have been obtained, for the same effort, by shallow seam trenching.
Curiously, flints have clearly been left in situ in the surrounding man made structures (rabbit digs produce a large quantity of flint in those bowl tumuli affected). Flint is available locally in vast quantities at the local beaches, and particularly below the cliffs.
