Temple of Khnum, Esna submitted by AlexHunger on 4th Jan 2006. Front of the Esana Temple of Knuhm. This temple was largely constructed by the Ptolemeys but all the reliefs were finished by the Romans. The temple was largely buried under the town and some parts still remain buried.
It is unique in that all the columns in the Hypostyle hall are different.
Also, cartouches for most Roman emperors from Tiberius to Caracalla can be found carved on the temple.

Deir El Medina Village submitted by AlexHunger on 7th Jan 2006. This is the Village of the workers that built the tombs in the valley of the kings and queens. In the New Kingdom, the pharaos prefered stealth for their tombs and kept tight security on the west bank of the nile. A separate caste of artisans lived there just to built the tombs and no one else was allowed there in order to avoid tomb robbers. Even the Pharao only visited the west bank twice, once to chose the location of his tomb, and once to move in... permanently.
