Blawearie Cairn
Date Added: 17th Oct 2011
Site Type: Cairn
Country: England (Northumberland)
Visited: Yes on 14th Oct 2011. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 4 Access 2
Blawearie Cairn submitted by minteddy on 5th Dec 2006. This photo clearly shows two of the cysts within the cairn wall, I assum the large slab was a covering for one of the cysts. If you walk along the western edge of Bewick Common towards Chillingham you will stumble across the odd cyst in the heather. Do the Chillingham Cattle count as being Megalithic - they look very like cave paintings of cattle?

Log Text: maybe my experience was coloured by the nearby combine harvester and having just visited a much nicer site a short distance away but this site felt scruffy and with the nearby wetland drained there was a feeling of it being out of context and mis-placed

Visited: Yes on 10th Sep 2010
Dorchester, Tudor Arcade submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Nov 2003. When in Dorchester, I just had to check out the report in Bill Putnam's book "Dorset: The Prehistoric Age" that there were red markings in Waitrose Car Park, Dorchester, denoting sites of larger timber posts, which formed part
of a timber circle. Quote "parts of a large timber circle have been
