Log Text: If you are near Carnac, Dolmens de Rondossec are a must-visit. There are three extensive dolmens in a mound in the centre of Plouharnel. There are numerous capstones on the wide passages and large chambers partially covered by capstones.
From Carnac take the D781 towards Erdeven. Follow the D781 through two roundabouts in Plouharnel then turn right onto Rue Hoche to find the tumulus.
Robin Hood's Stone

Robin Hood's Stone submitted by vicky on 24th Jan 2004. A close up of Robin Hood's stone showing the weathering grooves.

Log Text: Robin Hood's Stone is the definitive example of an anachronism, a standing stone in an urban environment. The green iron railings which imprison the standing stone emphasise it's alienation.

Date Added: 24th Mar 2023
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Scotland (Argyll)
Visited: Yes on 30th Apr 2010. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 4 Access 4
Ri Cruin submitted by caradoc68 on 23rd Feb 2012. This lovely cairn dates from the Bronze Age and is pretty new when it comes to the Kilmartin landscape. Hidden away in some trees just of the beaten track with its two kist's, this Cairn has a lot to offer with its large Kist's and its rock art of axeheads and possibly a caving of a boat in one of these kists !!.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)
Log Text: Ri Cruin Cruin is notable for two large exposed cists on the N & S Arcs of the cairn. I wasn't aware of the difficult to spot axehead carvings in the S cist at the time of my visit.

Log Text: I wasn't entirely convinced about the antiquity of the Essa Stones. The stones were ill matched and far apart. I thought they might have been modern rubbing stones.

Log Text: You would have thought that a tall standing stone on the roadside of a pub would be ideal. However, Pollachar Standing Stone's proximity to civilisation seem to detract from its antiquity.

Pinbreck Hill submitted by markj99 on 22nd Jul 2024. Pinbreck Hill Cairn viewed from SE.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)
Log Text: Pinbreck Hill Cairn is in the middle of nowhere, ruined and on the summit of a pathless hill. My philosophy is that there is more satisfaction to be gained from finding this site than being one of hundreds of people at Stonehenge.

Date Added: 26th Sep 2023
Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen

Pierres Plates (Locmariaquer) submitted by ermine on 27th Jun 2004. Les Pierres Plates
(View photo, vote or add a comment)
Log Text: Access to this monument has been restricted by a low fence round the perimeter. There is an official sign denying permission to enter the dolmen. I respected this request reluctantly because I would have liked to see the carved stones in the monument.
