Log Text: Manor Common South is visible as a grassy raised platform c. 1 foot high. There is a large earthfast stone in the NW Arc. The gorse bushes on the cairn had recently been burnt making it easier to identify the cairn.

Log Text: King Arthur's Hall is unique in my experience. It is one of the most unusual monuments I have ever visited. Henges and pounds are normally round. The isolated location amplifies the special vibe exuded by this exceptional place.

Log Text: I visited Alex Tor Cairn along with several other cairns in the Treswallock Downs Cairn Cemetery. Alex Tor Cairn is probably the most impressive of all the cairns in its construction and has a 360° panoramic view.

Log Text: I found Casehill Cairn by following the wall from Casehill Farm. The most impressive feature of the monument is the kerb stone on the NE Arc, measuring c. 3 feet high by 15 feet wide.

Log Text: The cairns on Treswallock Downs vary from relatively well-preserved ring cairns to small mounds. However, they are only a small diversion on the way to King Arthur's Downs.

Log Text: The stone circles are easy to find but difficult to interpret. I was able to get a reasonable grasp of the site after wandering around for half an hour. The NW Circle is more complete the SE Circle.

Log Text: The stone circles are easy to find but difficult to interpret. I was able to get a reasonable grasp of the site after wandering around for half an hour. The SE Circle is more intangible than the NW Circle. The S Arc of recumbent stones adjacent to the stone wall are the key to interpreting the circle.

Log Text: Not for the first time, I was hypnotised by a stone circle and failed to recognise a nearby cairn. I did observe the mound from a distance but failed to investigate it. A Beginner's Error!

Log Text: Hound Tor Kerb Cairn is easily visited at the foot of Hound Tor. The kerb cairn has a continuous kerb from N Arc to S Arc. The central cist has been exposed. The interior of the cairn has been entirely robbed of stones except for S & W Cist Stones.

Log Text: Hound Tor Medieval Village lies SE of Hound Tor. The footprints of the buildings are well preserved however the layout is somewhat confusing. There are four longhouses surrounded by ancillary houses and barns.

Log Text: Hound Tor impressive outcrops form a natural enclosure. It is easy to see why ancient people would choose this elevated location as a defensive location.

Log Text: Tumulus de St Michel is located on the NE edge of Carnac. Hotel du Tumulus is conveniently located adjacent to the giant mound. A small chapel is perched on the summit of the mound. There are two modern entrances, on the S and W sides, into the two chambers and passages buried within the tumulus. However, these are only accessible on guided tours. Despite the encroachment of modernity, Tumulus de St Michel manages to retain its gravitas.
